Smack Lobster

When I heard that a sister restaurant to the infamous Burger and Lobster was opening up in London I planned my trip faster than you can say lobster.
Smack Lobster opened up on 5 November on a little side street just off Oxford Street near Bond Street tube station. So when the girls and I went on a shopping spree a couple of weeks ago, we decided to head there for a spot of lunch, and I can't say I was disappointed.

The menu is seriously limited i.e. they only do lobster rolls, so this is one to miss if you're not a seafood lover (however please note, if you aren't we also can't be friends). There are four types to choose from:

As for sides, you can have courgette fries or the lobster chowder, and for drinks the options are 'wine, beer, lemonade or water.' I did tell you it was limited.

I went for the Mexican, with courgette fries and a lemonade (it's Sicilian, and delightful). The others went for the Californian which also looked equally as delicious, and Nikita also bought the lobster chowder for us to share.

You get a great amount of lobster, and the bread is the tiniest bit sweet and toasted to perfection. I loved the mix of flavours of the Mexican, and it was really nice to have 'fast food' that was a little different i.e. not your standard burger, pizza or burrito. It's a perfect lunch place I'd say, although I'm not sure about a romantic date as the seating isn't the most comfortable/intimate and you also have to order your food and collect it at the till before taking it to a table, rather than table service.

I had assumed the courgette fries would be really healthy, but rest assured they are covered in batter and certainly not healthy! They are slightly sweet, and again it was nice to have something different, although I was disappointed not to see good old fashioned chips on the menu. Potatoes over veg any day! The chowder was tasty, and again contained lots of lobster. This would be a great option to have with a roll for a light (and cheaper) lunch.
All in all, Smack Lobster gets a big thumbs up from me. £15 for a great fast food stop amidst a big day of shopping (more on my purchases coming up soon!)
