Signature Scent: Elie Saab

Every girl has a 'signature scent.' That one smell that you hope that people associate with you. I personally think smells have the greatest power to evoke memories and reminders of people. Too many times I've smelt someone's aftershave and done a double take because it's the same one an ex-boyfriend used to wear.

I don't think I truly 'found' my perfume until a year and a half ago, when I stumbled across this advert in a magazine for the Elie Saab perfume:

I'm not usually one to be sucked in by advertising; but this is something else. The dress is stunning, the model (Anja Rubik) is beautiful, and the whole thing exudes elegance yet sexiness and total femininity. Plus, the designer has my name (minus an L). So the next time I was in Boots I had a sniff, and it was love at first smell. Since then I haven't looked back, and I like to think that it's become my signature smell (you know it's achieved this status when your boyfriend recognizes and comments on it!)

The top notes in the perfume are of orange blossom, the middle is jasmine and patchouli and the base note is a cedar wood and honey rose. I find it incredibly difficult to describe perfumes, but I'd say that this is a grown up scent without being at all Granny-ish. I think it's classic, timeless, and so feminine, plus I love that it's perfect for both day and night time.

You may be wondering about the 'green' bottle…well that's the L'eau Couture fragrance, which I bought this Summer. This is quite similar to the original as it also contains orange blossom. However it also has green almond and vanilla, which makes it a bit softer and slightly sweeter in my opinion. It's a gorgeous Summer fragrance, and again is very feminine, but I still don't hold it as close to my heart as the original.

So there you have it, my favourite perfumes. What is your 'signature scent'?
