Monochrome: Part One

I've been shopping lately. A LOT.

I'm not sure whether it's due to the change in season, or because I've been feeling a bit down lately, but I've found myself wanting to treat myself to some new wardrobe additions. And that is exactly what I've done.
There is a running theme through my new clothes – monochrome. It's chic, elegant, and fuss-free. Even my new trainers are monochrome (post to follow). I've become a bit of a 'lazy dresser' of late (blame it on the long hours at work) and so I like pieces that I can team together and create multiple different outfits which require minimal effort and thought. I thought I'd do a little two part series showing some of the monochrome pieces I'm currently loving.

This dress was a steal from Primark and I love the fit and texture (it has a gorgeous quilted effect). I've teamed it with some chunky black lace up boots, which are similar to the Jeffrey Campbell boots but slightly more wearable in my opinion. I love a good statement necklace, and to top it off I've added my faux fur gilet from Miss Selfridge, which adds another gorgeous texture (and a little bit of warmth) into the mix.

I am a huge fan of rollnecks in Winter, and this one from H&M is a bargain at £7.99. It fits really nicely (I've worn it here with the sleeves rolled up but it's actually long sleeved). I've paired it with my H&M pleather skirt and again, some chunky black boots. Can't beat a bit of leather IMO. This leather and black clutch is one of my favourites (and was only £3 from Primark. I know).

To turn this into a daytime outfit just add tights and a warm coat/scarf. I may be able to give you some inspiration on that in my next post, so keep your eyes peeled for part two!
