Prague: Part One

Every year my group of friends from Uni take a trip together around Christmas time. Unfortunately in previous years the timing has never worked out for me, but in 2014 I was determined to go. And instead of doing the usual UK staycation, we decided on Prague.

The Thursday evening we boarded a Whizz Air flight (don't EVER do it, trust me) after Kumayl arrived late and brought a bag double the size of the one allowed for hand luggage, and Shamil nearly lost his iphone 6. Good start.

However the apartment we booked with Air B and B (link) was beautiful, and so cheap for its central location! We settled in and got ready for a weekend of exploring and eating (after ordering a pizza bigger than I've ever seen).

And exploring and eating is exactly what we did. The first day we saw the Astronomical Clock....

Drank lots of mulled wine...

Ate some delicious pasta (which was less than £5)...

Engaged in some usual tom-foolery...

And walked along the river to the Charles Bridge. We went up the tower and the views were breath-taking. I fell in love with the city at that point.

In the evening we went for tapas dinner which was delicious. We were then stuck on where to go. Luckily, through some Instagram hashtag stalking (don't ask) I found the name of a cocktail bar called Hemingways, which was rated as the number one bar in Prague. Obviously we had to go...

And we weren't disappointed. The bar operates a policy whereby they only allow as many people in as there are seats. They don't like swearing, moving furniture, or rude behaviour, and the decor is very traditional gentleman's club-esque. It was great.

We each sampled two cocktails from their limited but refined cocktail menu. All of them were unique and you could really tell how much effort went into them. I wasn't such a fan of the absinthe, but the rest were truly delicious! It was nice to go somewhere chilled out with incredible tasting drinks (and yes, that is grenadine in a teat pipette. I know, cool right). It was the perfect way to finish off a day in the city!

I'd strongly recommend going to the bar if you're in Prague. Amazing cocktails for £6? You'd pay at least £12 in London. Here's the link.

Come back for part two of our Prague adventure...
