So
when I flicked through the Jamie Oliver ‘Comfort Foods’ cook book and saw
something called the ‘Insanity Burger’ you can imagine my excitement. I
mentally flicked through my calendar to work out when I would next be able to
attempt the Insanity Burger, contemplating whether I could cancel any of my
dinner plans just to stay at home and make it (ok, I’m kidding, but I just
wanted to demonstrate my sheer excitement).
One
Sunday evening (my favourite day for cooking), when we didn’t have any social
plans, we set about making the burger. And boy, was it worth it.
I’m
not going to repeat the recipe, as you can find it here. However, I just had to
write about this and bring it to your attention, because it’s definitely up
there in the top burgers I’ve ever eaten. It’s not a ‘delicate’ meal, and it’s
certainly not one for boring ‘clean eating’ days, but trust me, this is worth
making your ‘cheat meal’. Word of warning though, things get VERY messy. Don’t
rustle this up on a first date at home, because there is no way to eat this
politely! Another piece of advice: this burger is VERY big, so you don’t really
need any sides. We had sweet potato fries but they were a little unnecessary.
Maybe make a small salad if you do feel you need an accompaniment.
Let
me know if you make the Insanity Burger and what you think; LBL is all about
sharing some burger love!
